Well this isn’t a DSLR shot, but shot with my iPhone. I entered three photos in the Manatee County Fair and today was the day to go and submit them for judging. I will know Thursday night if I won anything.
We have had these white pelicans in our basin since the weekend. On Friday, there were at least two dozen and by today, there were only a handful, but lots and lots of ducks. I guess our basin is a rest stop on their migration south. Anyway, these pelicans just taunted me by moving as far away as they could! I walk back out there at sunset today and tried to shoot a few photos. Again, I was working with manual settings and different lighting situations. Part of the issue is that I pulled out my 55-250mm lens that came with the camera. It’s not the best of lenses, but whatever, I had to make do. Setting were ISO 400, f/6.3 1/80 sec at 250mm. I used Greater than Gatsby Actions, running the Clean Edit base, Auto Histogram fix and reducedthe opacity on that plus Sharpen for Print.
Freyja, our breeder for Southeastern Guide Dogs, has loved the pool ever since we first put her in it as a puppy. Her favorite thing is to catch and retrieve her Kong Water Wubba. This one came in today to replace her old one. My hubby accidentally ordered the wrong size so this one is GIANT! I am working on playing with my manual settings so this was the first time I was trying to capture movement. It’s harder than I thought. I shot this with my 85mm prime and the settings were ISO 1600, f 4.5 and 1/1000 sec. I’m loving this manual business. I had used it sparingly before, opting to shoot a lot of stuff on P or TV. I have a lot to learn, but so far, I am enjoying to process.
We have had this freaky looking spider in our backyard for a while. I have no clue what he is, but eww. Anyway, after trying three lenses, and hauling out the step stool, I settled on using my Tamron 28-75mm. The settings were ISO 400, 75mm, 1/640 sec and f 7.1. Edited with Greater than Gatsby The Carving Tree collection using the Clean Edit Base. ( I currently shoot with a Canon Rebel t4i)
For years I have wanted to do a 365 Project. I will probably fail at this but really wanted to give it a go. Today I went out to Anna Maria City Pier and took a walk around. It was very overcast and gray, but I managed to get a few shots, including this one. If you would like to see others, click HERE to hop on over to Click it Up a Notch for a list of participants.
